March Madness Raffle -- Ticket Deadline March 12!

There are just a few more days left to participate in Saint Albert's March Madness Raffle! Tickets must be returned to the school by THIS FRIDAY, MARCH 12, in order to be eligible for prizes.

There will be a PAL softball registration meeting for 5th, 6th, and 7th graders on Tuesday, March 16, in the High School Cafeteria from 6 to 7 P.M. The cost is $50 to play. If you are unable to attend, please call Sue Martin at 712-325-0345 to make other arrangements for registration.

Show Choir Spectacular on March 16

Join Saint Albert's SoundSations and more than 200 other students from Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Lewis Central, Kirn and Wilson for our Show Choir Spectacular on Tuesday, March 16, at 7 p.m. in the Main Gym. The cost is $5 for adults, $3 for students, and a family maximum of $15.

If you can't attend the Show Choir Spectacular, try this event: On Tuesday, March 23, the Council Bluffs All City Vocal Festival will be held at Thomas Jefferson. More than 500 students from all of the Council Bluffs High Schools and Junior Highs will be participating. The event is held all day, concluding with an evening concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Thomas Jefferson Field House. Guest directors are Kate Roberts for the Junior High and David Sackschewsky for the High School Choir. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students.

More than 120 students from Saint Albert will be performing in these two events. Stop by for two evenings of fantastic entertainment in support of the Fine Arts Department.

The High School girls' basketball banquet will be held on Sunday, March 21, at 5 p.m. in the Saint Albert Cafeteria. All players and their families are invited to attend. The cost is $10 per person. In addition, Freshmen and Senior players should bring a dessert to share. Sophomore and Junior players should bring drinks.

Invention Convention City Winners

Congratulations to Saint Albert 4th graders Lorna Puhl and Alan Powers-Wettestad for being selected as winners in the city-wide Invention Convention last Saturday. Lorna's and Alan's invention "Sponge Gloves" was among 30 inventions that will advance to the state "Invent Iowa" competition in Iowa City on April 24. More than 110 inventions were included in the city competition. Best of luck to Lorna and Alan!


Youth Baseball League Registration

Saint Albert is once again sponsoring a machine- and coach-pitch baseball league for boys and girls in PreK through 3rd grades (must be registered SA students, minimum age of 4). Practices will be held on Saturday mornings at Bahsen Park from May 1-15 and games will be played May 22-June 19. The cost to participate is $30, which includes a uniform shirt and cap, and the registration deadline is April 6. Click on the link below for a registration form. PAL Basketball Champs

Congratulations to the 7th Grade Girls' Basketball team for winning the Parochial Athletic League title and finishing runner up in the Holy Cross Tournament this year. The team was 9 -0 for league play and 16-5 overall in league and tournament play. Members of the team include front row (left to right): Tessa Punteney, Jenna Cox and Zoey Showers. CYO Basketball Champs

The Saint Albert 3rd grade boys won the Catholic Youth Organization National Division League Championship last weekend. The team was 16-1 on the season. Prayer Opportunities at Saint Albert

Members of the Saint Albert family are invited to participate in the following prayer opportunities to strengthen the faith community at the school and give thanks for our many blessings:

  • Beginning on March 12, we will pray the rosary every Friday at 8:15 a.m. in the Elementary Chapel. Participants will meditate on the Passion of our Lord with the Sorrowful Mysteries: Agony in the Garden, Scourging at the Pillar, Crowning of Thorns, Carrying the Cross, Dying on the Cross.

  • Eucharistic Adoration is held the 3rd Thursday of the month from 9 a.m.-noon in the High School Chapel. Adoration is a time to sit quietly before the Lord to pray and listen to what He wants to place in your heart. If you can commit to a specific time for adoration, please contact Jennifer Veit at 256-1813. Someone must be present at all times.

The artwork of 20 student artists from Saint Albert is now on display at The Center, located on Main Street in Council Bluffs. The artwork will be on display until March 31. Stop by and enjoy the artistic talents of our students.

More than 50 students from Saint Albert were selected as winners in the city-wide Catholic Daughter Contest. The Strategic Planning Committee at Saint Albert is issuing a challenge to our parents to help us sell memberships to the 300 Club. The challenge is simple -- the person who sells the most memberships will receive $2,500 off their tuition! Saint Albert Cash Raffle -- Enter to Win $25,000!

Saint Albert is once again sponsoring a large raffle, but this time the school is GOING GREEN - with the top prize being $25,000 in cash. A second place prize of $5,000 also will be awarded, along with 3rd-5th place prizes of $1,000 each.

The cost of tickets is $50 each or 3 for $100. The drawing for the cash will be held on April 24 at the school's annual benefit auction.

Many volunteer ticket sellers are needed again this year to help us reach of sales goal of 3,000 tickets. If you would like to sell tickets, please stop by or call the Business Office. The person who sells the winning ticket will receive $500! And . . . attention Saint Albert parents! There's still time to help your child's class win pizza and pop for lunch! All you have to do is turn in your sold raffle raffle tickets. The class (one in the elementary and one in Jr/Sr High) that sells the most tickets between now and March 15 will win!

If that's not enough, we're also sponsoring a contest that's just for adults! The top 2 ticket sellers who turn in the most sold tickets between March 15 and 31 will each win $50 in Barley's Bucks. The certificates are good for any food and beverage purchase at either of the Barley's locations.


Junior Class Volunteers Needed for Auction

Attention Junior Class Parents! It's time to sign up for an Auction shift! Each year, parents of the Junior Class are required to work a shift to support the Saint Albert Benefit Auction. In return, the Junior Class receives a stipend to help fund post-prom activities. A variety of shifts and volunteer opportunities are available during the Auction, as well as the day prior and after the event. Join the 300 Club

Give the gift of a Catholic education by joining the 300 Club. The Club is a group of Saint Albert supporters who are committed to continuing the tradition of academic excellence at the school. It gets its name because we need 300 members to complete our fund-raising goal for the new elementary school.

Here's how it works: If 300 families pledge $100 per month for three years, we will raise $1,080,000. One-time donations of $3,600 also will be accepted for membership. In exchange for your donation, your name (or the name of someone you wish to honor) will be added to the club membership wall in the new building.
