ScripFrequently Asked QuestionsWhat is Scrip? Scrip is a term that means "substitute money." When families purchase Scrip from Saint Albert, they're purchasing gift certificates and pre-paid cards that can be used just like cash. You can use Scrip to purchase everyday household items like food, clothing, gasoline and entertainment, and can earn revenue for Saint Albert at the same time. How does Scrip generate revenue for Saint Albert? Participating retailers agree to sell gift certificates to Saint Albert at a discount. Families buy the certificates at Saint Albert and redeem the certificates for full face value. Then, Saint Albert keeps the difference in the revenue. The percentage of profit returned to Saint Albert varies from two to 17 percent depending on the retailer. How does my family benefit from Scrip? The revenue returned to Saint Albert from the retailers will be split between the school's general operating budget and tuition for a student or students specified by participating families. How many retailers are involved in the Scrip program? More than 200 retailers are involved in the program. A list of local retailers (Council Bluffs and Omaha) will be provided to participating families when they sign up, and a complete list of all participating retailers is available on the Shop with Scrip web site. How do I sign up? Families can sign up at the Saint Albert Scrip Office, located in the Business Office. The Scrip Office is open Monday and Thursday 8 am to 4:30 pm. Families can also sign up by printing off a membership form from the Web site and bringing it to the Scrip Office. Is there a fee to participate in the program? There are no membership or application fees. You simply complete the enrollment application, and Saint Albert will open an account for you. How do I order Scrip? You may place your order online at www.shopwithscrip.com or contact Natalie Burkey, the Scrip Coordinator, at (712) 329-9000. Your order will be available for you to pick up on Thursdays or your order can be sent home with your child. Note: If you have more than one child enrolled at Saint Albert, please specify which child the Scrip should be sent home with. Is there a minimum amount of certificates that I have to order? Saint Albert has no minimum order amount. Do I have to order every week? There are no requirements for ordering. You can order as frequently or infrequently as you wish. However, because Scrip can be used to purchase everyday household items, most families place an order each week to put their shopping dollars to work for their child's education.
