A great group of well-organized Saint Albert students, parents, alumni, and supporters arrived at Rosenblatt Saturday, November 26 to dismantle the stadium's outfield bleachers. The bleachers will reincarnate next year at Saint Albert's Al Leber Field.

Through the efforts of John Helton and Saint Albert parent and volunteer Lisa Dunning, Saint Albert reached an agreement with Rosenblatt to acquire the outfield bleachers to renovate the school's football stadium. John Helton, Director of Buildings and Grounds, devised a game plan for Saturday's activity and ensured the dismantling was a safe and successful event. We also want to offer a special thanks to Lisa whose relationships with the Henry Doorly Zoo and Omaha Zoo Foundation Board started this project and whose efforts provided Saint Albert with this remarkable opportunity.

We want to thank all the volunteers who dismantled and removed the bleacher components on Saturday. Your efforts helped Saint Albert successfully complete the first step in this refurbishing process of our fan facilities at Al Leber Field. We thank all of you for your hard work and wonderful support.

With the bleacher and components effectively removed from Rosenblatt, the next step is the installation of the bleachers at Al Leber Field, which will take place Spring 2012. The Saint Albert leadership in conjunction with Southern Bleacher Corporation will advise and oversee this task.

Over 130 volunteers signed up for this first stage of this project. Volunteers arrived at Rosenblatt Stadium at 9 am on Saturday, November 26, ready to work.

Saint Albert alumni, students, staff and supporters dismantled the Rosenblatt outfield bleachers and loaded the components into trucks.

Crews simultaneously worked on both the right and left field bleachers. The volunteers unbolted bleachers from the structure and then removed the brackets and components.

After volunteers unbolted the bleachers, they moved the compondents to the semi trailers provided by Hawk Trailers and transported by Holiday Van and Storage. All hardware was sorted by size into different buckets - this hardware will be used to rebuild the bleachers at Al Leber Field.

The lunch crew, led by Jon Erixon, prepared lunch to all the volunteers. Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, and drinks were provided by Scott Street Pub and Jim Brown's famous salsa provided by Jim Brown himself. All the crews worked hard and their breaks were all brief. Everyone's hard work allowed the first phase of this project to be completed by mid-afternoon.

A sincere thank you to all the volunteers, crew members, staff, and supporters who made this project possible. With the bleacher and components effectively removed from Rosenblatt, the next step is the installation of the bleachers at Al Leber Field, which will take place Spring 2012. The Saint Albert leadership in conjunction with Southern Bleacher Corporation will administer this task, but we anticipate calling on our faithful and spirited volunteers for help!
